There are many different ways you can get involved with Extinction Rebellion and we need your help no matter how little or how much you are able to contribute. Our ability to change the system and prevent the destruction of our planet relies on mass participation.
In addition to the newsworthy actions you will have seen in the headlines, there is also a lot of work that goes on at grass roots level to enable those actions to happen and to raise awareness.
1. Know what’s going on:
First things first let’s help you build a base of knowledge of what’s happening around XR Leeds so you can see what things you can get involved in.

We regularly post events and info via the social channels above. We also love it when people contribute to the conversation and help us amplify our message, it’s an easy starter and the results can be powerful.
2. Get educated about the Climate Crisis & Extinction Rebellion, NVDA and protesting safety.
– Watch the Heading for Extinction talk
Grab some popcorn and snuggle into your favourite seat to watch the Heading for Extinction and what to do about it (below or one of the many other great ones that can be found on youtube).
It’s a great way to learn about the science and even if you decide not to join Extinction Rebellion right now, this talk is a great introduction to what we’re facing and needs to happen to prevent catastrophe.
The content isn’t sugar coated so it can be hard to come to terms with initially.
Our outreach working group regularly run in person talks around Leeds on the above topic and are a great way to learn about the science and and connect with others who are coming to terms with the same information.
You can find out more about when these events are happening by signing up to our newsletter and following our social channels (see action number 1 above).
– Watch the Getting Started with XR Youtube series
A great well made series of videos that you learn about a lot of the main concepts and make up of Extinction Rebellion.

3. Come to our General Meetings
Meetings take place regularly on a Monday evening from 6pm to 8pm, at the brand new Climate Emergency Centre in the Leeds City Centre, (and jointly live streamed). All are welcome – even if you are new to XR.
- Inspire Leeds (formerly the Climate Emergency Centre, 7th Floor, City Exchange, 11 Albion Street, Leeds, LS1 5ES).
Next gathering is Monday 12 June, at the above location, 6pm.
You can find out about future gatherings by joining the above newsletter and following our social channels. Or see our Events page.
4. Attend one of our actions and/or help plan it
Extinction Rebellion uses non-violent civil disobedience as a means of achieving our aims of preventing mass extinction and the collapse of society through extreme climate change.
Actions are being organised all the time and require a lot of preparation to make them happen – we need you!
You can find out about the next gatherings taking place by signing up to our newsletter and following our social channels (see action 1 above).
5. Join a working group
The work of Extinction Rebellion is delegated to smaller autonomous groups called Working Groups who then report back to the larger group. These working groups cover many areas of interest and fulfil a variety of roles essential to the work of Extinction Rebellion.
Joining one or more of these groups is a great way to make new friends, work on an area close to your passions and start making an impact within the group.
For more information and details on how to join, take a look at the page on Working Groups.
6. Buddy up
