Demand Zero

Just Transition

We demand a just transition to an ecologically balanced, zero carbon economy that prioritises the needs of the most vulnerable and redresses the inequalities in our society caused by centuries of colonial, gender and class exploitation.

Previously our 4th demand, just Transition is our Demand Zero.

It is the precondition for the other three demands. When we tell the truth, we demand justice. When we act now, we act justly. When the Citizens’ Assembly convenes, it will be guided by justice.

Tell the Truth

The government must tell the truth by declaring a climate and ecological emergency, working with other institutions to communicate the urgency for change.

Act Now

The government must act now to halt biodiversity loss and reduce greenhouse gas emissions to net zero by 2025.

Beyond Politics

Government must create and be led by the decisions of a Citizens’ Assembly on climate and ecological justice.
